Prof Michael Adikwu, a Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka

In 2006, Prof Michael Adikwu, a Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, won the Nigeria Prize for Science with his work “Wound Healing Devices (Formulations) Containing Snail Mucins”. The distinguished judges of The Nigeria Prize for Science considered the work of great merit in healing wounds. Prof Adikwu, who schooled in University of Nigeria before becoming a lecturer in the University was also a postdoctoral Fellow at Heinrich Heine University, Dusseldorf, Germany and Kyotto Pharmaceutical University, Kyotto, Japan as well as University of Manchester, United Kingdom.

In 2014, he was appointed Vice Chancellor of University of Abuja. Prof Adikwu is currently a member of the Advisory Board of The Nigeria Prize for Science.
