Kaine Agary’s Yellow Yellow was the first to win her a $50,000 coveted prize for The Nigeria Prize for Literature in 2008 and also the first debut Novel to ever win the prize. Kaine’s experience in the city of Port Harcourt spurred her to write the book. Before clinching the prize, Kaine was known mainly for her magazine Takai, where she tried to enlighten the public on some legal issues. She described herself as “a mother, lawyer, writer, coach, alchemist, lover and explorer”.
