Abubakar Ibrahim is a journalist who struck a nerve with his debut short story collections The Whispering Trees, published in 2012. The book had a great run as it was longlisted in Etisalat Prize for Prose while the title story was shortlisted for Caine Prize for African Writing. Abubakar also won the Gothe Institute and Style Foundation African Residency Award in Germany in 2006 and in 2016 his novel Season of Crimson Blossoms earned him Africa’s richest and most prestigious award, The Nigeria Prize for Literature worth $100,000.
